Penny Chandler Wendell, passed away at age 61 on July 22, 2011. She was determined to see her 61st birthday on July 14, and she made it. There is another UDHS angel. Penny had been battling lung cancer for years and had stopped all treatments in favor of quality of life over side effects. There will be no wake or funeral. The family, according to Penny’s wishes, will be having a memorial party on August 6th , from 5-7pm at the country club on Deer Isle . You are all more than welcome to attend. For those wishing to make donations to a special cause, Penny’s sons, Alvah and Andrew have set up a scholarship fund in Penny’s name. It is the Priscilla A. Wendell Scholarship Fund through the Bar Harbor Bank in Deer Isle. They wanted to do so to honor their mother who was an outstanding educator who loved children and played a very important part in many lives, and with the help of this scholarship fund, will be able to continue making a difference. The address to send any contributions is as follows: The Priscilla A. Wendell Scholarship Fund Her sister-in-law Mary Chandler wants to thank people for all the prayers and support that were sent their way. They were very much appreciated by Penny and the family. |
